By automated rentals, Kova means that unlike a traditional rental shop, Kova does not operate a staffed rental shop.
The idea is that you can book ebikes online and sign waivers digitally. Once waivers are signed, our system will generate and send you a door code. You'll then punch that code into the door of our pickup location to both pick up and drop off your rentals.
We've been doing this for six years and have tried to make this as easy as possible for those who may be less comfortable with this level of autonomy. We provide detailed instructions for operating our ebikes, digital maps on our website and a large map in our pickup room, and our Snow Canyon Guide to help give you an idea of how to plan your adventure ahead of time.
If you prefer an old-school brick-and-mortar rental shop—no problem! There is no shortage of traditional ebike rental shops in St George. Reach out to us and we'll recommend our favorites to you!
We offer full refunds from the time you book until 24 hours before the start of your booking.
We do not issue refunds if a booking is canceled within 24 hours of the booking.
At Kova Rentals, our age requirements align with the requirements of the state:
Per the state of Utah, any person operating an ebike must be at least 8 years old, and any minor operating an ebike without a parent or guardian present must be at least 14 years old.
In addition to this, Kova Rentals also requires that at least one member of any riding party be at least 18 years old.
Each bike comes with a large, universal helmet that can be adjusted to fit a variety of heads. This is available to you at no extra charge, though we do charge a $40 replacement fee if a helmet is not returned or is severely damaged.
Our pickup room is located at
5224 N Winchester Hills Dr,
St George, UT 84770
It is a bronze-colored building, and we are on the first floor facing the street. Look for our sign!
However, please keep in mind that we are an automated rental service. You will not want to go to our pickup room without a booking in place already.
After submitting payment, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a link to our waiver. The waiver must be signed in order to complete your booking. We recommend signing your waivers ahead of time to make the process easier and seamless for you.
As part of signing, you’ll have the option to send the waiver to other riders in your party. Once you and the other riders in your party signed the waivers, you will receive an email with a door code. Enter that code into our door to access the pickup room, where you’ll find a bike, a bike lock, and a helmet.
Though it’s hard to predict the weather too far in advance, we don’t get a whole lot of rain here in Southern Utah. If it happens to be raining when you pick up your bikes, we just ask that you stay on paved paths.
We do offer weather-based refunds on a case-by-case basis. Just reach out to us.
To help you get started with your ride, our pickup room features a large map highlighted a few routes and points of interest.
We also have a more interactive map here!
Kova’s automated rental locations are meant to provide you an easy, on-site access to the trails and attractions you want to visit, so you can drive to the bikes and ride from there.
If you want to rent a bike and take it somewhere else, we recommend checking to see if there’s a Kova rental location there you can book a bike with.
Rentals are available any time within the time slot selected. However, it should be noted that your time slot does not extend if you are late in picking up your rentals.
We do not prorate for late pickups or early returns.
Bikes are due back in the drop-off zone of our location by the end of the time slot selected.
Please remember to return the helmet and bike locks as well.
If you happen to get a flat tire during your rental, contact us at the phone number in your confirmation email and we’ll take care of it.
Even if you are out on the trails, we will arrange to bring you a replacement bike.
Our ebikes all come with a fresh charge and are rated to go at least 25-45 miles (some up to 60 miles). However, riders need to remember that these are bicycles, and some level of effort will be required in order to preserve your battery.
While it’s tempting to use the throttle, this feature should be used sparingly, as it drains the battery much faster than any level of pedal assist. If you want to use the throttle, then we recommend using it for initial acceleration from a dead stop.
Otherwise, we recommend mainly using the pedal assist and gear shifter to optimize the balance between your effort and battery life, especially given the local terrain and elevation changes.
If you encounter problems with your bike and suspect a battery defect, we will take care of it. Even if you are out on the trails, we will arrange to bring you a replacement bike.
We will not issue refunds after the fact for batteries that were well used and drained properly.
If you encounter a bike malfunction that prevents you from continuing your ride, please call us at the number provided in your booking confirmation email.
Even if you are out on the trails, we will arrange to bring you a replacement bike.
As part of our waiver, renters agree to pay for all damages incurred during their rental above normal wear and tear.
During the period of the rental, the responsibility of securing the bike will fall to the renter. Bike locks are available at no additional cost.
If you decide to park the bike and leave it, we recommend locking it to something that cannot be moved and wearing the key around your neck.
The height ranges specified for our bikes are recommendations from the manufacturers, but we know that our bikes cannot possibly fit everyone.
Feel welcome to rent our ebikes, even if you're outside of our bikes' height ranges. Just know that riding safely is still your responsibility. Overextending a seat post is extremely dangerous and can permanently and irreparably damage a bike. If a bike is returned and we see that the seat has been overextended, we will charge a fee.
You can find our bikes' recommended height ranges here.
