Snow Canyon Overlook Trail
St George
Snow Canyon State Park is one of Utah’s greatest hidden gems. While it’s possible to drive straight through the canyon, doing so would mean you would miss out on some of the spectacular views you can get from exploring Snow Canyon’s trails. To truly experience the majesty of Snow Canyon, you can hike—or ebike—the Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook trail.
As one of Utah’s many state parks, Snow Canyon does require an entry fee. America the Beautiful Passes do not qualify towards the cost, but a Utah State Parks pass will get you in.
What to Expect around Snow Canyon
There’s a lot to do at and around the Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook. Here’s what you can expect.
Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook
If you’re maybe not feeling like a long ride, another destination you may consider is the Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook point. From there, you can enjoy amazing vistas of the canyon without having to put in much effort at all.
How to Get There
We recommend exploring Snow Canyon and its Overlook trail with an ebike. From our rental location at Ledges Golf Course, take the following directions to get to the overlook:
- Go north on Winchester Drive
- Take a left on Hawkeye Road and stay on it for about 2000 feet
- Take a left onto W 5745 N and then an immediate right onto UT-18 northbound
- After half a mile, cross the road and get onto the road towards Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook
It won’t take much more than 10 minutes to get to this viewpoint.
Since it’s a short ride, you could use this destination to supplement your other rides in the area. For example, you could start at the Snow Canyon Scenic Overlook to get a full view of the canyon before riding north and into the Snow Canyon Loop trail. Or, you could call it a day after the view—it’s up to you!
What to Pack
The right packing list makes all the difference for outdoor adventures. We recommend bringing:
- Helmet
- Water bottle
- Hiking shoes
- Phone or communication device
- Snacks
- An ebike
Snow Canyon can get extremely hot, especially in the summer months. There is no water source along the Overlook Trail, so you will have to bring your own.
