Ebike the Petrified Dunes Trail in Snow Canyon State Park
Snow Canyon State Park is home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in St. George. One of our favorites is the Petrified Dunes Trail. This trail gives you an incredible view of the nearly 200-million-year-old sand dunes and introduces you to a whole new world of outdoor activities!
The Petrified Dunes Trail in Snow Canyon is a hiking adventure that takes you into gorgeous, ancient dunes. The whole trip is just 1.2 miles roundtrip, but the trail is rocky, narrow, and features sections of slick rock. But while you’re on the trail, you’ll have plenty of petrified dunes to climb on and explore. Set aside some time to enjoy the view!
What to Expect on the Petrified Dunes Trail
Expect to see geological wonders, blue sky, and even the occasional Gila monster on the Petrified Dunes Trail in Snow Canyon.
How to Get There
Take your car or ebike rental into Snow Canyon to get to this hike. The trailhead is about one mile into the canyon from the North entrance off of Highway 18, which is only a mile away from our pickup location at Ledges Golf Course.

When to Go
Snow Canyon State Park does not get much shade, and the Petrified Dunes Trail is no different. This unique trail is best tackled in the morning or evening and with regular application of sunscreen.
Does it Cost?
As one of Utah’s many state parks, there is a cost to enter. America the Beautiful Passes do not cover the entry cost for Snow Canyon, but a Utah State Parks pass will get you in.
What to Pack
The right packing list makes all the difference for outdoor adventures. We recommend bringing:
- Water
- Sunglasses
- Sunscreen
- Hiking footwear
- Did we mention water?
Snow Canyon gets a lot of sun, meaning you’ll want plenty of shade and water. Aside from bringing more water than you think you could handle (you might surprise yourself!), we highly recommend exploring Snow Canyon and the Petrified Dunes Trail with shade protection, like hats and light, long-sleeve shirts.
Ride to the Trailhead
While you can’t take an ebike onto the trail, you can ride it to the trailhead from our Ledges location. Contact us today to set up your ride!
