Hidden Pinyon Overview
Hidden Pinyon is an approximately one-mile moderately trafficked trail loop located in Snow Canyon Park, near Dammeron Valley, Utah. You’ll get to see some great views on this trail that is good for all biking skill levels. The best time to hike this trail is between April and September.
What to Expect
Snow Canyon Park offers a range of hiking and biking experiences. Hidden Pinyon trail has a moderate difficulty level and takes about one hour to complete. There are restrooms at the start of the trailhead. You can expect to do a bit of scrambling on certain parts that are more uphill. Some areas are a bit more sandy, increasing the difficulty of the hike.
To get to this trail:
- Head north from St. George on Bluff Street
- Take the exit to Red Hills Pkwy/Snow Canyon Pkwy, then turn left on Snow Canyon Pkwy
- Drive about 3 miles until you come to a traffic circle. Go through it, taking the second exit.
- After coming to another traffic circle, take the first exit onto Snow Canyon Drive
- Go through the main gate of Snow Canyon and hit the trailhead when you get to the parking lot for Whiptail Trail.
What to Pack
On a hike such as this, it’s a good idea to have a few pieces of equipment handy, including:

- Hiking shoes
- Sunscreen
- Phone or communication devices
- Snacks
